Turmoil in Japan

I've been keeping up with the news from Japan these past few days, and nothing positive is really developing yet. From a now 9.0 magnitude quake, to nuclear reactors possibly melting, to the earth literally spinning faster and her axis being nudged a few inches.. yeah doesn't seem too great.

Also, some sources think Japan is suppressing the scale of the crisis.

Apparently this whole 'nuclear situation' is getting worse, and if the meltdown becomes too serious then it will be a global problem. The nuclear fallout shouldn't be life threatening, but a worst-case scenario, is the Northern Hemisphere being polluted by a meltdown (similar to Chernobyl).

Let's not forget that they expect additional aftershocks, even one that is supposed to hit at least a 7.7 magnitude...

Crazy things going on in the world today.. I'll keep updating as major breakthroughs happen. Let's hope for something positive.

  2. Another scary thought is this. Usually major quakes come in pairs. The last time there was a major shakeup in japan, it disrupted faultlines in peru. 2 weeks later, peru had a big one as well.

So place your bets. South america? North america? Alaska? Mexico? Who's gonna get hit next???

  5. might want to stock up on potassium iodide in case we do get hit with some fallout...it will offer some protection from harmful radiation.

  7. Lost.in.Idaho is right, they normally do upset the world 'balance' if we could call it that. I heard that mount Fiji erupted after something like this last time... We should expect some volcanic activity and even another major earthquake soon. I just hope that whatever happens will be minimal. This same quake could have completely destroyed other cities, in terms of human lives. This might be a nuclear disaster but it wasn't anything like Haiti, or Peru.

I really feel for the families of victims right now. Even worse for those still waiting to hear from missing family members. Agony.

    Thanks for the updates.
