Well it's about that time to visit the eye doctor. I usually go in January but this year has been kind of busy. Luckily, my eye care professional is located a few minutes from my house and I won't be needing a vehicle.
I'm trying to decided between glasses or contacts. I fortunately have medical insurance with partial vision coverage, and they end up paying for either half a year of contacts or a preset limit for glasses.
As anyone who has ever been in the market for eye-wear knows, the frames (usually) are the cheapest part; the lens is where the real money goes. Now obviously there are designer frames but those are out of the question for me. No, I think I will find the cheapest and most durable pair they have and rock those. Either that or get "old-people glasses", like the really big ones, because they are practical and cheap. Mainly just for shits and giggles though.
Anyway I've been wearing contacts for years now and I'm kind of edgy about the transition, but I think it's about time. Contacts are a nuisance and have become an irritant for my eyes in recent years. But still the idea of acquiring both is a thought that I've been having, and I'm going to try to figure out a way to get it done. Contacts are cheaper online is my theory, and a really cheap pair of frames shouldn't be too difficult to find.. there just won't be a great selection of styles, which I guess I don't care about anyway.
Well I am just fortunate I have medical insurance. Without medical insurance I wouldn't be getting anything lol. I know many other countries have socialized medicine, but here in America, you are in a bad place without medical insurance.
So do you guys wear glasses? Are you one of the "lucky" 20/20s? :P
Thanks for reading! ^_^

Haha, I feel ya. I got glasses myself last year and basically asked to have a look at their under the counter stock of frames. They had these one pair that was pretty decent. I don't remember how much they cost, but altogether with lenses it came to 40$, which isn't bad. Following =3
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm so happy that i don't need glasses. good luck for your choice. post the new glasses when you got 'em!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I am very nearsighted and have been for a while. I recently went to an optometrist and had my eyes checked out. I ended up getting some glasses with wire-frame. They are pretty durable, I feel. I'm really not into wearing my glasses in doors unless I am doing something that requires solid vision. I wear the mostly when I go skateboarding or walking outside, ect. Not into contacts for that reason. I kind of learned to enjoy my blindness to an extent. :P Best of luck and hope the new lenses look good.
ReplyDeletefrom contacts to glasses?
ReplyDelete= \
seems like a regression lol - aren't there other contacts you can get that don't irritate your eyes?
I wear glasses, and they're the 'kidproof' kind (flexible frames, bend but don't break). I'm leaning toward contacts now, and am about due for my checkup.
ReplyDeleteif the contacts are bugging you i would definitely get glasses. but then again, most people look better with contacts. so just decide what is more important, appearance or comfort
ReplyDeleteYou don't let him trick you into buying ladies' frames like George on Seinfeld :)
ReplyDeletepersonally I wear glasses, never tried contacts cause of news some people were getting eye infections a few years back.
ReplyDeletedon't get the old people ones though, makes you look...old lol.
Personally I would choose contacts, so much better imo
ReplyDeleteits never bad to go and see the optometrist. how long have you been wearing glasses for? i think i might need some i spent to much time in front of the computer that my eyes are constantly watery.
ReplyDeleteif you are old enough go for laser. never have to deal w/ glasse or contacts again
ReplyDeletei did laser myself

sorry to hear but at least people will assume your smarter with glasses ;)
ReplyDeletei prefer my glasses rather than my contacts. cause i have sweet Rayban frames on them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could handle changing contacts every day, but if you're into doing that in the morning, then go with em. If you're as lazy as I am, then do the glasses!
ReplyDeleteI would go for glasses makes you look smarter and gives character.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have to buy new contacts all the time :/
contacts are gay as fuck.
ReplyDeleteI have been wearing glasses almost all my life, so they don't bother me at all. Hope you get cool looking frames.
ReplyDeleteContacts all the way, nothing like having your Peripheral vision!!!

ReplyDeleteGo for the laser surgery if you can afford it .
ReplyDeleteI'm never going to wear glasses ever!
ReplyDeleteI'm really wishing that I'll never get glasses...
ReplyDeleteThey don't suit me.
I personally prefer glasses.
ReplyDeletei have contacts. i wish i had a pair of glasses as a backup plan for when my eyes need a break from contacts. i'd say get both if you can afford it.
ReplyDeletei'm nineteen and have been wearing glasses for around two years now. there are times when my glasses are a pain and i'd prefer contacts, but it seems like so much fiddling around. maybe i should try them out though.
ReplyDeleteget star shaped lenses. you know you want to.
ReplyDeleteI wear glasses. Apparently, I've been told I look like a "sexy" librarian. :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed I do. Have for many years. You actually reminded me that I need to go to the optometrist myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lucky 20/20, but I'm an absolute bastard to my eyes and I'll probably need glasses sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteHope you find an awesome pair of glasses! You should take a pic of them when you do
